St. John's Episcopal Church and the Bellefonte Council of Churches have embarked on a program called Bread of Life to provide a Bible study and lunch program aimed at helping low income members of the community prepare diabetic meals at home.
With grant assistance from Episcopal Appalachian Ministry and Operation Understanding, the Bread of Life program will officially launch in early March at the Faith Center in Bellefonte. 675 people currently use the food bank, many of whom not only need healthier eating habits but are also unchurched. The parish will provide both spiritual care and training by nutritionists. To find out more, contact the Rev. Alex Dyakiw, deacon at St. John's. The parish is grateful to EAM and Operation Understanding for supporting this project.
