Clergy from around the Diocese gathered at St. Stephen’s Cathedral on Tuesday of Holy Week (March 30) for the annual renewal of ordination vows. The preacher and speaker at the luncheon that followed was Bonnie Anderson, President of the House of Deputies of the Episcopal Church. As president, she is the senior lay leader in the Episcopal Church.
In her sermon, Ms. Anderson focused on the relational nature of Christianity, which assumes that people exist in community. She emphasized the talents that lie among the laity and clergy, concentrating on stories that stressed the sharing of talents, wisdom, and practical strategies for getting things done. The entire sermon is available here.
