Loading...The annual Province III Synod was held on April 29 to May 1, 2012 in Martinsburg, West Virginia.
About 160 were in attendance, preparing for General Convention. Bishop and Mrs. Baxter as well as nine deputies, alternates and guests attended from Central Pennsylvania. Episcopal Church Women (Ms. Amy Swiernik, President – CPA) held their annual meeting during this time and the Commission on Ministry (The Rev. David Lovelace, Coordinator – CPA) met following the synod. The Most Rev. Katharine Jefferts Schori and The Rt. Rev. Stacy Sauls addressed the synod and presentations were given by Ms. Bonnie Anderson and The Rev. Gregory Straub.
Province Officers elected to a three-year term are: The Reverend Melanie McCarley (WV), President; The Rt. Reverend F. Neff Powell (SWVA), Vice President; Ms. Karen Stewart (MD), Treasurer and Anne Lund (SVA), Secretary. The Rev. Christopher Cunningham (SVA) was elected Province III clergy member of Executive Council. The Rev. Theodore "Ted" Babcock represents the Diocese of Central PA at Province III Council which meets every third Thursday in October.
The Small Church Conference is scheduled for May 28 -31, 2012 at Shrinemont Center, VA. The Province III Dinner at General Convention is set for Sunday, July 8, 2012 at the Hard Rock Café in Indianapolis. Plans are underway to co-sponsor the upcoming December Youth Event in Lancaster PA with the Diocese of Central PA and St. James Church.
