The youth group from St. Benedict's Episcopal Church, New Freedom, recently spent a Saturday shopping for toys to contribute to the Marine Corps' Toys for Tots program.

Youth group member Kristen Brosie says, “The youth group wanted something that would be beneficial not just for elders but for younger children as well. Many children are in need during the Christmas season, and we wanted to reach out and help spread the gift of love and cheer.”

The youth selected and purchased 40 toys, including playing cards, Play-Doh, dolls, sleds, a scooter, and a bicycle, with funding provided by St. Benedict's Outreach Ministry.

An alms offering was also provided to purchase toys for a child with cancer and his three siblings. “On Christmas morning, that child will have one of the happiest days of his life, and even if he does not make it to the age of ten or twenty, we helped in making his first couple of years of life memorable,” Brosie says.
