The Episcopal Square Board of Directors sponsored a Mardi Gras party for the residents of the Episcopal Square, Shippensburg, Pa. on Feb. 20.
The party was attended by approximately 37 residents and all had a great time.
A meal was provided and included meatball sandwiches, chips, cookies, cup cakes, kings cake, coffee, ice tea, soda, water and root beer floats.
Activities that the residents could partake in included fortune tellers, ping pong ball toss, bean bag toss, and a Mardi Gras mask station. Residents received beads for each of the activities that they visited and could visit as often as they wished. At the end of the evening the Mardi Gras King and Queen were crowned. The king and queen were determined by the man and woman who had the most strings of beads. A jazz quartet from Shippensburg University played jazz music during the party.
The party was worked by six board members and three of their wives, Mother Barbara Hutchinson and Deacon Janice Fritz, Lisa Turchi, all of St. Andrew’s church and also some 17 students from Shippensburg University.
The event was well received and all attending residents want the event to be done every year.
