St. James Episcopal Church, Lancaster, and other downtown Lancaster churches marked Homeless Memorial Day with a Longest Night service on Dec. 21.
This ecumenical service “highlighted the importance that Christians place on serving and standing with the neediest members of our community,” said The Rev. Lynn Hade, priest at St. James Episcopal Church and coordinator of the event. St. James has been host to free community breakfasts for low income persons for over 25 years and is one of many area churches that provide meals for the hungry of Lancaster County.
The annual event was sponsored by the Downtown Ministerium of the Lancaster Council of Churches.
