Fall Diocesan Calendar Features Variety

Both congregations and the Diocese are gearing up for a busy fall, and the calendar of events is growing quickly. The coming months will bring an assortment of events to support both parish ministries and outreach to those in need. These include several new events to meet a diverse set of needs.

The highlights:

August 26-28: Godly Play Core Training—a two-day immersion in using Godly Play in early childhood settings, held at St. John’s, Carlisle. More information is available here:

September 24: Annual ECW Retreat in Cape May, NJ—an annual opportunity for reflection and recreation. The Rev. Jane Miron returns this year to lead the retreat. More information is available here:

October 16: Diocesan Prayer and Healing Conference – Led by the Rev. Nigel Mumford, whose books and work in healing ministries have gained national attention, this day-long workshop will be ideal for Pastoral Care givers, nurses, Physicians, Clergy, and those who work with those in need of healing. Held at St. Stephen’s Cathedral, Harrisburg. More information and registration form available here:

October 29: Planning for Tomorrow – This overnight conference, presented by the Church Pension Fund, is designed for lay employees of the Diocese and it congregations who work more than twenty hours per week. It will deal with long-range financial planning and will introduce the programs the Pension Fund offers for lay employees. Registration for important planning event is available to lay employees at no cost, except for overnight accommodations. More information is here:

In addition, the Disaster Relief Commission will sponsor choral evensong events—both with a Haitian twist—to raise funds for relief project in Haiti, where reconstruction continues to lag well behind the needs. The first Festival Evensong takes place at 4pm on November 7 at St. Stephen’s Cathedral. Singers from around the Diocese are invited to participate. Details are available here:
