On Tuesday, March 19 at 7:00 p.m., the Lancaster County Episcopal Response Team met at St. Luke's, Mount Joy.
There were nine folks present representing six of the ten Episcopal churches in the county. A seventh church was deterred from attending due to illness on the part of its representative and spouse. The other three churches are on board, their clergy informed, and hopefully, will be present at the next meeting.
While the first meeting was held at St. Luke’s, Mount Joy, it was decided that we would rotate the meetings to actualize that we are a Convocation/County group. It was also determined that we would meet on the third Tuesday of each month unless an emergency required a special gathering. The next meeting will be April 16th at St. Paul’s, Manheim at 7:00 p.m. A summary of each meeting including its recommendations would be promptly circulated to all ten churches and to the diocese.
In preparation for the April 16th meeting we will continue to dialogue with our contacts in New Jersey in order to further assist them in their efforts to restore their lives and community. In addition, those present were asked to search with their clergy and other appropriate sources in their home churches for local opportunities which would lend themselves to an effective response by all ten churches working in a collaborative/servant way.
