The annual convention of the Diocese will take place June 10-11, 2010 at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA. As part of the preparations for that convention, several initiatives are underway. First, the spring convocation meetings continue through April. These meetings provide convention delegates a preview of the convention topics and agenda, as well as an opportunity to ask questions of diocesan staff.
A major new initiative this year is a much more public sharing of the diocese’s budgeting process. Canon Joe Seville explained, “We wanted to help people and congregations understand the process by which we create our budget, to see the priorities that parishes identify, and to be able to track the development of the budget based on those priorities.” As a result of this effort, the Diocesan web site now contains a series of documents—all available for general viewing here—that trace the development of the 2011 budget that will be presented for approval at the convention in June.
Finally, the nominating committee has prepared a slate of nominees for positions on the Eccelsiastical Trial Court, the Council of Trustees, and the Standing Committee of the Diocese. Names and biographies of these nominees, along with other convention information, can be found on the Diocesan Convention web pages here.
