The Episcopal Preaching Foundation (EPF), founded more than a quarter-century ago, has a simple and straightforward focus: good preaching matters. During its history of service to the Church, the EPF has sought to fulfill its mission in a variety of ways, but at the heart of its work has been the annual Preaching Excellence Program (PEP) for Episcopal seminarians. Each year sixty to seventy students from Episcopal and other seminaries gather at a central location for a week of preaching, worship, workshops, lectures, and fellowship under the leadership of the EPF director, Episcopal seminary faculty members, and guest speakers. More than one thousand priests and deacons of the Episcopal Church, including the Most Reverend Katharine Jefferts Schori, Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, are PEP alums.
Henry McQueen, a graduating senior at Virginia Theological Seminary, was nominated by the dean and homiletics department staff at VTS to participate in the PEP for 2012. Henry, having been sponsored for ordination by Saint James Lancaster, lives in Alexandria, Virginia with his wife Diane and son Parr. He is currently completing his senior year of seminary and discerning his first ordained call to serve the church.
