Building community one stitch at a time

Tidings

A community of knitting. When we gather together at our quarterly Sacred Stitches events, we share ideas and talk about what type of ministry our churches practice.

Sacred StitchesA highlight of our fall gathering was the idea of actual community knitting. The community blanket involves four knitters all knitting on one blanket at one time. One of the comments heard was, "It's like playing a game of bridge, only without the stress."

You might say we were test driving an upcoming project for the cathedral school in Harrisburg. Students at the school will be working on their own community blanket and we acted as knitting guinea pigs to see how the process would work. Such fun!

Perhaps you would like to try this with children at your church, or youth groups, or just try to make one with three friends. What a wonderful idea as the temperatures grow ever colder and the need for warm blankets is ever present.

Please join us for our winter gathering of Sacred Stitches, hosted by St. John's, Lancaster on Saturday, January 19, 2013, with a snow date of February 9th.

We look forward to the fellowship and sharing of ideas you all have to offer.
